    1. Overall Rating: 5 Rockin’ ★★★★★Barrett is a member of a special agency that investigates vampires. It had only been a few months ago that she like other humans believed that vampires were just made up bogey men and not real. Now Barrett knew that not only were they real but that our government was turning humans into vampires and using them to counteract what they perceived as a national threat. Barrett was presently involved in tracking down a rogue group of vampires that were opera [...]

    2. I liked the first book in the series better than this oneME MILD SPOILERS AHEADI found that the main characters, Barrett and Nick, rather bland. Their connection didn't seem real to me. I couldn't understand why they've been feeling such guilt: Nick for killing his brother when said brother was begging him to doit since he was dying and being in great pains; and Barrett because her brother died of heart attack during a shooting occuring near them but where they were not involved. They both denied [...]

    3. Barrett Miles is a new member of the Belladonna Agency, a secret group run by the FBI to track rogue vampires. She is working on sex trafficking, particularly of young girls, prized for their innocence especially by high ranking, wealthy vampires. Barrett is former military and learning the ins and outs of the Agency. Ty and Ana whom we met in Turned ( Book #1) are hiding out for their own safety. She is recovering from her forcible turning, and they fear they are still being hunted. The rest of [...]

    4. Former lovers Nick Maltese and Barrett Miles are reunited in search of a missing teen. Barrett Miles works for the FBI’s Belladonna Agency, whose purpose is to catch vampire criminals, Nick works freelance for the FBI: he’s a vampire killer. Ms. DePaul has found yet new things to add to vampire mythology. Vampires, sex trafficking, and a whole lot of secrets are the basis for this fine suspense. Well done, Ms. DePaul and I’m looking forward to Kevin and Justine, and the dogs, in upcoming b [...]

    5. This copy has been given free to me by First Reads. Thank you so much for the giveaway! Nick Maltese and Barrett Miles rekindle their relationship while searching for a missing teen. This book had great action, hot sex, and vampires! Such an amazing book! Next book in the series please!

    6. I was lucky enough to win and receive this book through GoodReads FirstReads Giveaway Program.I loved the action and romance in this book. And of course, the steamy sex scenes! The plot kept me very interested and I couldn't put the book down!!

    7. Awakened, the second book in the Belladonna Agency series, knocked it out of the park for me! What did I love about this book? Oh, just about everything! First off I am a HUGE PNR fan. And just because I am does not mean I will read any old PNR that falls in my lap. It’s got to be good, REAL GOOD. It’s got to have the whole package for me. Characters, action, and a plot with enough mystery to keep me from guessing what comes next too easily. This book has it all. Here’s what it takes to ge [...]

    8. My Rating: B- Liked It, but I had a few small issuesReview originally posted at That's What I'm Talking AboutReview copy provided by EdelweissBarrett Miles is a human working for the Belladonna Agency, a secret section of the FBI that knows about vampires, which exist among the humans. Barrett is desperate to locate Jane Small, a missing teen who is the daughter of Barrett's deceased childhood friend. Jane was taken by sex traffickers that cater to vampires.Nick Maltese is a gun-for-hire, contra [...]

    9. My Review:A- ratingThis is the second book in the series and although the series has an over-arcing story, you absolutely can read these books as stand-alones. Belladonna is an agency made up of two former FBI agents who are now vampires, four women from very different backgrounds but who all have an unusual link, and the mysterious unseen Carly who's in charge of them all. Think a paranormal Charlie's Angels and you have this seriesd I love that about it. This book took the reader away from the [...]

    10. Barrett Miles is an ex-soldier who now works for the Belladonna Agency, a super-secret agency who is dealing with both rogue vampires and other vampires who believe that humans are just for food and profit. Barrett started out on a mission to break down a ring of human kidnappers and stumbled across the worst type of human trafficking and to make it worse, this was very, very personal. Barrett will do anything to save the young girl she just saw online on a vampire blood website.Nick Maltese is [...]

    11. Awakened, The Belladonna Agency Series, Virna DePaul.Review from jeannie zelos book reviewsI really enjoyed the first book in this series, Turned, and was looking forward to reading more so when I saw this on the review list – well- had to request it :-) So, it's focussed around Agency member Barrett this time. She's having to work with her ex, a man she's really still in love with, though she won't admit it even to herself. She kind of emotionally stunted as far as love goes, she's scared to [...]

    12. I did read the first book, but since each book features a couple, it can be read as a standalone. While I did get introduced to Barrett in the first book, it was only a slight introduction so the information I gathered from the first book wasn't major. And while I had some problems with the worldbuilding in the first book (what is the Belladonna agency exactly?) I didn't get answers here either. I still feel that the books are slowly building to those answers as we keep meeting couples in this w [...]

    13. This book was received free with the request for an honest review.Awakened is the second book in Virna DePaul's Belladonna Agency series. I haven't read the first book, and felt just a little bit lost when reading the first chapter of Awakened. By the second chapter, though, I was hooked and it really didn't seem to matter much that I had missed the first book.Barrett Miles works for the Belladonna Agency, an FBI-run operation that hunts rogue vampires, those who are preying on humans. In the co [...]

    14. This is the second book in the Belladonna Agency series and I won both book 1, Turned, and book 2, Awakened, in giveaways through . As I mentioned in my review of Turned, I took awhile to finish Turned because I had issues with the hero and heroine. Book 2, Awakened, also has some character issues and a rather predictable ending, but I liked it far more than Turned. In general, on the up side, I like that Barrett and Nick have a history together. It made the instant connection (re-connection?) m [...]

    15. The heroine is on the hunt for the daughter of a best friend after she's kidnapped and sold into vampire sex slavery. Her search leads her to the one man she ever loved as he's skills can help her find the girl. The heroine and the hero had a hot and steamy love after a year ago but when the heroine freaked out and panicked over her growing feelings, she fled. She's always regretted that decision so when she meets the hero again, they waste no time in rekindling their love affair. The hero has l [...]

    16. Wow, the tension continues, more truths are unravelled and the mystery is still there just as alluring as the first book. I love this series. Over and over Virna’s capacity to captivate the reader is mind-blowing. Where does she come up with these ideas? It’s just so good! I loved Nick to bits and Barret, what a woman! A pair definitely well-matched. In my opinion there is more action, mystery, suspense in this book than in the first and perhaps just a little less sexual tension, although, t [...]

    17. Belladonna agent Barrett Miles will have to team up with her former lover Nick Maltese in order to infiltrate a vampire sex slave ring and find a young girl Barrett promised to protect in this riveting paranormal romance. This steady to fast paced plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation with lots of suspense, action and romance. The well orchestrated suspense scenes intrigue the reader and builds up curiosity and spine tingling thrills as Barrett and Nick work to discover who is behind the s [...]

    18. This is the second book by Virna DePaul that I have read and yet again I am not disappointed. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This newest installment in the Belladonna Agency series focuses on Barrett an ex-soldier and former lover of partner in arms Nick. Barrett and Nick once upon a time had a very passionate love affair. However, it cooled when Barrett walked away in order to save herself from potential heartbreak. Now Barrett is force to seek Nick's help when her best f [...]

    19. I can count on Virna DePaul to write a well-developed captivating story with characters that I come to care about, which is exactly what she has done in Awakened. I will admit I had hoped that this would be Peter’s story but by the end of the first chapter, I had totally become involved with Barrett’s dilemma and couldn't wait to meet Nick. Friends and family are motivating factors in this story, which helps to keep this paranormal book on the realistic side. Even when a book is full of born [...]

    20. Barrett Miles works for Belladonna. When the FBI deems a vampire a rogue, Belladonna agents go after it, get rid of it and any evidence it ever existed. Barrett's friend, Sarah, died and Barrett promised her she'd look in on her daughter, Jane, and keep her safe. Jane was kidnapped and Barrett's search began.Nick Maltese served in the Army with Barrett. They were lovers until Barrett was kicked out and sent home. Now he's back in her life and willing to help her find Jane any way he's able to. H [...]

    21. This is the second novel about the Belladonna Agency and this time around we follow Barrett, an ex-army FBI agent who is tough as nails on the outside but is hiding a vulnerable interior. She meets up with an ex-lover (Nick) who is probably the only man to ever hold her heart and we get to watch as she awakens again to his touch. The vampire element certainly holds my interest since there are some new twists that this author adds to the normal legends of their abilities & I don't mean sparkl [...]

    22. Actual rating: 4.5 stars “I’ve dreamed about you every night for the past year,” he said. “I remember the way you feel. The way you sound. The way you smell and taste. But memories aren’t the same.”I have to hand it to Virna DePaul. Awakened is a novel that had some of my favorite elements all in one place: romance, paranormal beings (vampires), suspense, and action. But most of all, it had a whole lotta heart.I was privileged enough to get an advanced copy of Turned, book one, earli [...]

    23. Barrett is tracking a 17 year old girl named Jane who is missing. Her aunt and uncle claim that she has run off with a vampire groupie, but the more Barrett investigates the more it looks like human trafficking. She intercepts a conference call where she spots Jane which leads her to Nick who she used to date when she was in the Army. Nick is now a hunter for the FBI taking out dangerous soldiers turned vampires. He is also a bit of a computer geek hence the link to the conference call. They tea [...]

    24. A good read by Virna DePaul in The Belladonna Agency series. Barrett's life has changed so much in the past year. From fighting overseas in the army to coming home and working with a secret FBI organization to learning that vampires are real. When a friend's daughter goes missing and vampires are suspected to be at the center of her kidnapping, Barrett has to turn to the one man who could hold her heart, Nick, for help. Nick has the skills and knowledge to help Barrett but he's keeping a secret [...]

    25. A great read for anyone who loves pararomal romance and rouge vampires. You get blood slaves and ex lovers forced to work together to save virgins kidnapped and sold to the highest bidder. With many new twist, the Belladonna agency have their hands full cleaning up the the mess the FBI created with the turning program and rouge vampires doing their own damage. Ex soldiers Barrett Miles and Nick Maltese both have personal issues to deal with. Hunting a new breed of vampire and trying to infiltrat [...]

    26. I'll be honest, I almost didn't finish it. I thought the main characters were childish and unbelievable. Towards the end, I'm talking the almost very end, it got interesting. Barrett was in the Army but now she's in a special group that tracks turned vamps. Nick is a tech genius and now he kills the turneds with neuron rage. Barrett goes looking for her friends daughter, who disappeared. She is undercover when she sees her on a sex site. She loses her but enlists the help of Nick. She goes under [...]

    27. This was the second book in a series about vampires and the FBI. I think I liked it better than the first, but I'm still trying to process it. I didn't really like Barrett. She was just too much. I understand she is working with a shadow agency, trying to find her best friend's kid, dealing with reuniting with her lover, and trying to figure out who the mole is, but sometimes she did really stupid stuff. Still, I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Thanks to Netgalley for th [...]

    28. As the book progressed, I liked it more and more, but at the beginning, I was confused and bored. It took me about 30% of the book to really start enjoying it but even then I would not say it was my favorite book. The characters never really gel together. They seem awkward and clumsy around each other. Even after declarations of feelings, they just seem to not really connect. I liked the idea of the plot and felt it was executed fairly well, but often felt forced.

    29. MORE @ melenasreviews.wordpressI have to say this was not the one for me. At first I thought I knew what was going on and then a curveball got thrown towards me. Barrett just didn’t do it for me. One minute she is all hell bent on finding the vampires and then the next there is the whole sex ring. I mean it was hard to figure out what is the real story of Barrett and Nick. Definitely not a hit for me.

    30. This book was a struggle for me to get into. I just could not connect with the characters or the plot. Its not that it is poorly written, just not my cup of tea. This book to me was very predictable. So, while this book was not for me, it may be just what you are looking for. I think that if the blurb sounds like something you would like, go for it.
